Not good. So I am going to try and make a doctors appointment today.

I did however workout Friday, Saturday, and Monday. I took Sunday off. I did 2.5 miles on Friday on the treadmill alternating walking/running. Saturday, I did 1.5 miles on the treadmill, and 1 mile on the elliptical, and did some weights. And on Monday I did 1.5 miles of cardio, 1 mile on the treadmill, and 1/2 mile on the elliptical. I then met with my PT and we worked on my arms. Such a good work out, even today my arms are still sore.

We will see what the doctor says when I see her about my knees! And then I did 1.8 miles on the elliptical because that doesnt hurt my shins, but it does work my hamstrings, which were really sore from the previous day, so needless to say I am walking very slowly today. I also worked out my abs. I wish I could fast forward to where my legs don't hurt me anymore and I can actually run strait through a mile without taking a break. Ugh. That is all I have to say. Those guys really know how to work you. I met with my personal trainer and all we did was legs. We did 100 reps on the leg press just to start...all non-stop. After that alone I felt like my legs were going to either burst into flames, or fall off....or both. But then after that we moved to 3 other leg machines to work out other muscles and man, they don't take it easy. I wanted to cry by the end. But overall, I am very happy with the way it went, and I actually get another free session because he made me wait so long. So I am going to do it again on Monday. Wish me luck. I didn't get to do any cardio yesterday because my legs were so wobbley, but I will today. I sweat so much from just doing weights yesterday, so hopefully that will help with my running and endurance.

Day 8

Yesterday was day 8 of working out. I alway did arms and leg weights. I would have done more on the treadmill, but my shin on my left leg was throbbing. I am told that will go away, and I hope it does soon! So I went to the gym every day last week except for Friday, which I made up for by running in my neighborhood. Let's see if I can stick to the gym every day this week! I already feel like I have more energy, and no more smoking has helped SO much, although my husband smoking still is a little irritating, but hopefully he will be free of that habit soon as I now am.

Better...

So yesterday I wasn't able to go to the gym so decided to walk/run by my house. I measured the distance to the light by my house and it was .7 miles there. so I alternated walking and running there and back for a total of 1/4 miles. It was pretty hot outside, but it was my first outdoor exercise so I was pretty proud of myself. I also got new running shoes to use too. They are Brooks brand. They look and feel great!

And today I went to the gym and used the treadmill, no more elliptical. The shoes really did help my knees, I think they helped put less stress on them. I didn't know just how important good running shoes were until today. I alternated running and walking for 2.8 miles on the treadmill, and did weights. I am getting there, and I already feel good about it, I will not let myself get discouraged! I feel great! And I can't wait to go tomorrow!

Ugh

I am tired, I just did the elliptical again at the gym, got it down to 3.3 miles in 40 mins. I did a total of 35 minutes at just over 2 miles on the elliptical, and just over 1 1/2 miles on the bike in 15 mins. Woo hoo, I will see what I can do on Tuesday!

Tuesday workout - I did just over 2 1/2 miles on the elliptical in 45 minutes, and 1/2 mile on the bike, and did weights on my arms and legs!

Wednesday workout - I did a straight, non-stop 50 mins on the elliptical. I went 3.5 miles, which was pretty good for me, once I get my endurance up, I will start running on the treadmill. I think that will start next week.

I signed up for a 5 K on May 15th with my mom. I am excited, and nervous at the same time, I hope I will be able to do it!

I need someone to run a mile race with me on April 25th though. I am hoping to go every other day, if not every day. I am going to start keeping a diary of my workouts, and how long they were on here to motivate myself. Hopefully I can get into good enough shape to run a half marathon in October on the east coast with my friend Heather. I do need to think of some good motivators though, I thought about buying cute clothes in a couple sizes smaller to motivate myself to lose weight more quickly, but I am still a little scared to do that. We will see what happens I guess.

Work

I oftentimes wonder if I am ever going to be able to find what it is I really want to do in life. I can be content with my job, but it is never fully satisfying. I would like to find that job that makes me WANT to wake up every morning and rush out of the house, not the one that makes me want to sleep in. I envy anyone who has that in their life because they are truly lucky. And then I wonder if maybe I just don't want to work at all, but then I think I would become bored quickly.

So what is it I want to do with the rest of my life? My personal life is great! It's just my work that floods into my personal life that causes all the stress, and I thought it was supposed to be the other way around! I would love to be one of those people who get paid to travel around and report on the different hotspots. I hate finding myself day-dreaming about traveling to this exotic location somewhere and then it abruptly gets interrupted with a phone call, or a student coming in to talk to me.

It's like that movie, "The Pursuit of Happiness." It is so true! Is it that we can only pursue happiness, but in reality it isn't really obtainable? It is sad to think that we have the right to "pursue" happiness, but the thing is, we aren't capapble or willing to do the things in order to reach happiness. What is happiness anyway? I guess it is different for everyone, but is there a standard of what it really means, and a way of obtaining it. I know if you are happy deep down with yourself, and what you have accomplished that maybe you might be generally happy. But in this day and age I find it hard to do. Look at this economy for example. People are losing jobs, going bankrupt, foreclosing, and just completely going crazy because of what the country has turned itself into. So how in this day and age do we "pursue" happiness?
